Fleetwood Holds Slim Lead Over Rose Heading into St Jude Championship Final Round
Tommy Fleetwood leads Justin Rose by one stroke after the third round of the St Jude Championship, setting up an exciting final day in Memphis.

Tommy Fleetwood has positioned himself as the frontrunner heading into the final round of the St Jude Championship in Memphis, Tennessee. After a challenging third round, Fleetwood carded a one-under-par 69 to finish the day at 14 under par, maintaining a narrow one-shot lead over fellow Englishman Justin Rose.
Fleetwood, who had a three-shot advantage after the second round, faced early struggles in the third round with a double bogey at the par-five third and a bogey at the seventh. This allowed Rose to briefly take the lead. However, Fleetwood regained his composure with a birdie at the ninth and a 14-foot birdie putt at the 12th, solidifying his lead once again.
Justin Rose, at 45 years old, is aiming to become the first player in his 40s to win on the PGA Tour this season. Rose’s consistent performance, including a birdie at the seventh and a crucial birdie on the final hole, keeps him within striking distance of Fleetwood.
World number one Scottie Scheffler remains in contention, just two shots behind Fleetwood after an impressive five-under 65 in the third round. Scheffler’s round was matched by JJ Spaun, the US Open champion, who also carded a 65.
Fleetwood, a seven-time winner on the European Tour, is still seeking his first PGA Tour victory in his 162nd start. Despite his near-misses, including a runner-up finish at the Travelers Championship in June, Fleetwood remains optimistic. "I enjoy being in this position," he said. "The more I put myself there, the more chance there is of it happening."
The final round promises high drama as players battle not only for the St Jude Championship title but also for a spot in the upcoming BMW Championship, the second of the PGA Tour's three playoff tournaments. Only the top 50 in the FedEx Cup standings after Sunday’s round will advance.
With Fleetwood and Rose leading the charge, golf fans are in for an exhilarating conclusion to this prestigious event.
