Wolves Secure £24m Deal for Nigerian Striker Tolu Arokodare to Boost Attack

Wolves have finalized a £24m deal for Genk striker Tolu Arokodare, aiming to strengthen their attack and improve their Premier League standing.

Wolves have agreed to a £24 million deal for Genk striker Tolu Arokodare, as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the transfer deadline. The 24-year-old Nigerian international was the joint-top scorer in the Jupiler League last season, netting 21 goals and helping Genk secure a third-place finish in the Belgian league.

Arokodare’s arrival is expected to provide additional support to Jorgen Strand Larsen, who Wolves are keen to retain despite receiving substantial bids from Newcastle United. The club has already rejected offers of £50 million and £55 million for the Norwegian forward, emphasizing their commitment to strengthening the squad rather than replacing key players.

Since joining Genk from Valmiera in 2023, Arokodare has made 113 appearances, scoring 41 goals and establishing himself as a prolific striker. His addition to the Wolves squad comes at a crucial time, as the team currently sits bottom of the Premier League without a single point after three consecutive defeats, including a 3-2 loss to Everton last weekend.

In addition to Arokodare, Wolves are also exploring the possibility of signing former Burnley captain Josh Brownhill. The 29-year-old midfielder, who scored 18 goals last season to help Burnley return to the Premier League, is available on a free transfer. However, Wolves are limited to signing homegrown players after exhausting their quota for non-homegrown signings.

With the transfer window closing soon, Wolves’ moves reflect their determination to turn their season around and avoid relegation. The combination of Arokodare’s goal-scoring prowess and potential reinforcements like Brownhill could provide the spark needed to revive their campaign.
