Craig Miles Returns to Gloucestershire: A Boost for County Cricket

Craig Miles rejoins Gloucestershire after a successful stint with Warwickshire, aiming to strengthen the team's bowling attack.

Gloucestershire has officially announced the re-signing of seam bowler Craig Miles from Warwickshire on a three-year deal, effective from 1 November. This move marks a significant addition to Gloucestershire's bowling lineup as they prepare for the upcoming seasons.

A Stellar Career So Far

Craig Miles, aged 30, has had a remarkable career, particularly during his time with Warwickshire. His standout season in 2021 saw him take 37 wickets at an average of 21.81, playing a pivotal role in Warwickshire's County Championship victory. Miles also delivered a memorable performance in the Bob Willis Trophy, taking 5-28 against Lancashire at Lord's, helping his team secure a league and cup double.

Return to Gloucestershire

Miles spent eight seasons with Gloucestershire before moving to Warwickshire in 2019. During his initial tenure, he claimed 313 wickets for the county. His return is seen as a homecoming, with Miles expressing his excitement:

"I'm absolutely buzzing to be coming back to Gloucestershire. The chance to wear the shirt again and represent the club that played such a massive part in my journey was something I simply couldn't turn down."

What This Means for Gloucestershire

Head Coach Mark Alleyne shared his enthusiasm about Miles' return:

"He left as a precocious talent and returns with a strong body of work on the first-class stage. As an all-format player, he will add great quality across the seasons to come."

Miles' experience and skill across all formats of the game will undoubtedly bolster Gloucestershire's bowling attack, making them a formidable contender in the County Championship and other domestic competitions.

Recent Performance

While Miles has yet to feature for Warwickshire in the County Championship this season, he has made six appearances in the T20 Blast, taking five wickets. His return to Gloucestershire will provide him with a fresh opportunity to showcase his talent and contribute to the team's success.

Looking Ahead

With Miles' return, Gloucestershire fans have every reason to be optimistic about the team's prospects in the coming seasons. His proven track record and commitment to the club will be invaluable as they aim for glory in domestic cricket.
