Max Verstappen's Future in F1: Will the 4-Time Champ Win Again?
Max Verstappen reflects on his F1 career, the possibility of not winning another championship, and his future plans in the sport.

Max Verstappen, the four-time Formula 1 world champion, has openly discussed the possibility that he "maybe will not win a world championship again" if the circumstances are not favorable. This candid admission comes as Red Bull struggles to keep pace with McLaren this season, potentially ending Verstappen's streak of four consecutive titles.
Verstappen's Current Standing
Verstappen, who is contracted to Red Bull until 2028, has always been pragmatic about his career. Having achieved his first world title in 2021, he has consistently stated that he does not intend to race in F1 indefinitely. "I probably won't continue until I'm 44," Verstappen joked, referencing Fernando Alonso's long career. Despite his success, Verstappen is mindful of the upcoming 2026 F1 regulation changes, which could significantly alter the competitive landscape.
Reflections on Future
Speaking during the Dutch Grand Prix weekend, Verstappen expressed contentment with his achievements so far. "I think this has already been more than I could have ever dream of," he said. "So, of course, I'm very happy and proud of what I have achieved so far and you never know, maybe you will not win a championship again. That's something that can happen, but it's not really on my mind."
Family and Career Balance
Verstappen, who became a father earlier this year, has increasingly emphasized the importance of family time. The grueling 24-race F1 schedule often keeps him away from home, a factor that could influence his future decisions in the sport.
Post-F1 Plans
While Verstappen remains focused on his current racing career, he has also contemplated a future role within the sport. "I have a lot of plans and things around racing, but that doesn't necessarily always need my involvement 100%," he explained. "I would like to drive a little bit more [after F1], but I also actually don't mind the more like manager side of things, you know, to see other drivers compete in your car, your team."
Dismissing Mercedes Rumors
Despite speculation about a potential move to Mercedes in 2026, Verstappen has dismissed these rumors, reaffirming his commitment to Red Bull. His focus remains on the present, making the most of his time in F1, and preparing for the changes that 2026 will bring.
