Jacob Misiorowski Makes MLB Debut: Brewers' Rising Star Faces Cardinals

Jacob Misiorowski, the Milwaukee Brewers' top pitching prospect, is set to make his major league debut against the St. Louis Cardinals. Learn more about his journey and what to expect.

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Brewers are set to introduce their top pitching prospect, Jacob Misiorowski, to the major leagues this Thursday night. The 23-year-old right-hander will make his debut in the opener of a four-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Misiorowski, who entered this season as the third-best prospect in the Brewers' organization according to Baseball America, arrived in Milwaukee on Tuesday night from Triple-A Nashville. Standing at an imposing 6-foot-7, Misiorowski has been a dominant force in the minors this season, posting a 4-2 record with a 2.13 ERA in 13 games, including 12 starts. Over 63 1/3 innings, he has struck out 80 batters while walking 31.

"I think it just plays into the fact that the Brewers trust me, and they think I have the strength to do it," Misiorowski said on Wednesday before the Brewers' game against the Atlanta Braves. "I think I'm ready and willing to do it. So, I'm excited."

Selected in the second round of the 2022 amateur draft out of Crowder College in Neosho, Missouri, Misiorowski has steadily climbed the ranks. Last season, he was considered a potential September call-up to bolster the bullpen, but that didn't materialize. This season, he has settled into a starter's role at Nashville.

"I just got out there and throw whatever they ask," Misiorowski said. "If that's 60 pitches or 70 pitches, that's what it is. It's been exciting, and now we're here."

The Brewers have been impressed with Misiorowski's performance during spring training and believe he has the potential to become a key member of their starting rotation. "It's been a topic for a month or more," Brewers manager Pat Murphy said of the promotion. "He's here."

Misiorowski's fastball averages between 97-98 mph and has occasionally surpassed 100 mph. His arsenal also includes a slider, curveball, and changeup, making him a formidable opponent on the mound.

Hailing from Blue Springs, Missouri, Misiorowski grew up following the Cardinals. Now, he finds himself facing them in his MLB debut. "I think it's really cool to face a team I grew up watching all the time," he said. "So, I'm excited."

Misiorowski will take the spot of right-hander Aaron Civale (1-2, 4.91 ERA) in the rotation. This debut marks a significant milestone in Misiorowski's career and a promising addition to the Brewers' pitching staff.
